International Water Management Institute (IWMI)
The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) delivers innovative, science-based solutions to address global water management challenges and drive sustainable development. With offices in 13 countries and a network of experts working across more than 30 countries, IWMI conducts research at field, basin, and regional scales to tackle critical water-related issues.
In the Lao PDR, IWMI’s work focuses on three key priorities:
- Food: Enhancing food security by optimizing water resource management while safeguarding ecosystems.
- Climate: Supporting adaptation and mitigation strategies to build resilience against climate change and water-related disasters.
- Growth: Promoting inclusive and equitable development by addressing the impacts of agricultural transformation, energy transitions, and urbanization on water resources.
Through collaboration with governments, research institutions, and local communities, IWMI contributes to sustainable water management solutions that support livelihoods, environmental conservation, and economic growth.
