PGS Hoi An was established in 2014 with the first organic vegetable production project in Hoi An – the first organic production model according to PGS standards in Central Vietnam with 17 members (including Government, NGOs, farmers, businesses, and consumers). Hoi An Economic Department was established and now is managed and operated by Hoi An Agricultural Technical Center according to Vietnam PGS standards. From 2014 up to now, PGS Hoi An has implemented 10 organic agriculture projects with budget from the state, non-governmental, and people's donations with a total area of more than 6 hectares and nearly 7 billion VND from state and non-governmental capital. However, the current PGS certified area is only 1.2 hectares with 11 farmers.

The scope and goals of PGS Hoi An focus on implementing and training farmers for organic agriculture development projects to:
– Organic certification according to PGS Hoi An standards for products that meet standards in Hoi An
city.
– Increase income for farmers.
– Contribute to environmental protection and organic agriculture development;
– Develop agricultural production models associated with tourism and community development;
– Create an attractive learning experience for students and tourists when coming to Hoi An.
