The second call for proposals of ALiSEA Small Grant Facility has been opened from the 13th of February to the 13th of March 2017. This competitive grant scheme aims at co-funding activities that promote agroecology stakeholders initiatives for sharing experiences, documenting case studies, testing innovative practices, disseminating success-stories, building innovative concept, so forth.
As part of the ALiSEA program, this SGF is not aimed at implementing new projects but rather emphasizes on knowledge sharing, increasing visibility of existing initiatives and scaling-up best practices. The call for proposals is opened to any stakeholders, providing that they contribute to the overall objective of ALiSEA, and targets Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. An information session has been held in each country (Lao PDR, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam) for all potential applicants in order to present the Small Grant Facility, its guidelines and answer to all the questions of clarification.

As for the Concept Note phase, the second round was very successful. We received seventy three (73) Concept Notes in total for the first phase of the evaluation process. Kindly find below the allocation per country:

The selection committee for ALiSEA Small Grant Facility has finished reviewing all the concept notes received. Out of the 73 Concept Note received, only 66 have been actually evaluated since seven Concept Notes (6 in Myanmar and 1 in Laos) did not comply with the eliminatory criteria. 28 Concept Notes have been selected for the full proposal stage, which represents about 40% of the total.
Due to the high quality of the received proposals, the Evaluation Board of Experts selected half of the 28 full proposals to be granted. In total, 14 initiatives have been granted by ALiSEA Small Grant Facility.
- Cambodia: 4
- Laos: 2
- Myanmar: 3
- Vietnam: 4
- Regional: 1
All the projects are part of larger initiatives that bring co-funding. The total cumulated budget granted by ALiSEA is slightly under 140,000 USD.
The stakeholders representation is quite diverse with about 40% international NGOs to be granted as main implementer, alongside with 30% of local NGOs and 30% of Universities. The private sector is however not represented for this call.
