GRET is an international non-profit organization 40-year-old international development organization working in more than 30 countries. Active in Lao PDR since 2004, GRET is implementing projects in various sectors: water supply and sanitation, rural development, natural resource management, land governance, agriculture value-chains and agroecology.
For the implementation of its water and sanitation projects in Luang Prabang, GRET is seeking one motivated Lao national to fill a long-term position of Wash Project officer based in Luang Prabang. He/she will be part of a dynamic and professional water supply & sanitation team.

Position: Water and sanitation officer
Schedule: Full-time
Location: Luang Prabang Municipality

Main duties and responsibilities
- Assist the focal project staff in the implementation of activities in the field.
- Assist project team in the coordination and communication with partners.
- Contribute to the strategic thinking of the water and sanitation team.
Main tasks
- Conduct field surveys to (i) collect socio-economic data in target areas required to prepare and implement water and sanitation projects and (ii) to monitor the projects’ implementation;
- Implement hygiene education & sanitation activities in target villages.
- Implement community mobilization activities
- Assist in the organization of trainings with partners and communities.
- Coordinate with local authorities in order to (i) collect data and (ii) inform them about the progress of the projects’ implementation;
- Update project monitoring tools.
- Contributes to the preparation of project’s reports.
- Assist for meetings, workshops, training, surveys, bidding procedures;
Qualifications requirements
- Education: at least bachelor degree related to social sciences or rural development or environmental sciences.
- Skills required in: communication, rural development, social sciences.
- Experience: at least 2 years
- Language: excellent command of spoken and written English (French an asset)
- Computer: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and other graphic design softwares.
- Excellent communication & organizational skills
- Ability to work in the field with communities from rural villages
- Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team;
- Strong motivation to learn new work methodologies and quickly develop new skills.
