Mr Phong from RCRD – An Giang University sharing his experience on applying Agri App |
Ms Thuy from CISDOMA sharing his experience on applying Agri App |
Mr Phong and Ms Thuy have shared experience of implementing the app for data collection and some challenges of farmers while implementing the app.
According to Phong, An Giang is one of the largest paddy productions in Mekong Delta where farmers grow floating rice, paddy-shrimps – fish model which can reduce the use chemical for farming practices. A large part of paddy field in An Giang Province still implementing pesticide and chemical fertilizer. There are about 200 pesticide and chemical fertilizer companies in An Giang Province, they produce not only to supply for farmers in An Giang Province but also bring to other provinces in Vietnam. Farmers tend to apply more chemical to soil to maintain paddy production. Farmers in An Giang mainly sell all their paddy and purchase paddy from other places for family consumption where they think safer for them.
According to Thuy, lack of knowledge and awareness of applying pesticide and chemical fertilizer is a serious problem for farmers in Tam Duong District, Lai Chau Province. Farmers do not have any kind of protection clothes when they are spraying pesticide and herbicide, farmers throw the chemical bags on the field or family garden after spraying. Some herbicides available in Tam Duong district contaminate Glyphosate isopropylamine salt and Paraquat, these chemical have very strong serious impact to human health.
Mr Ly, The farmer is sharing his experience on using Agri App |
Mr Ly, One of the outstanding farmer was sharing his own experience on implementing the app and he want to apply the app for others crops like tea, paddy or cattle because the app brings a lot of benefit for him like information about pest, disease and how to treat them.

Field visit |
Workshop participants visit the farms where farmers conducted data collection. Farmers in Tam Duong District Lai Chau Province do 2 maize seasons in high land area and do 3 maize seasons in low land area (Near stream because it is easy for farmers access to water). When it is raining, the pesticide and chemical fertilizer that farmers have applied will go to stream and people live nearby will get poisoning. The pesticide and chemical fertilizer will reduce the soil nutrition and fertility in the long term.
