PGS Vietnam is the quality assurance system for organic production gathering producers, traders, consumers. With the voluntarily participation of INGOs, LNGO, Gov agencies, authorities, farmers and consumers, products certified by PGS gradually have obtained the trust of the consumers.
PGS Vietnam has been established in 2008 under a 7 years project funded by ADDA. It is designed to help small holder farmers engaging in local markets. It is organized into 3 parts: Farmer groups – Inter-groups – Coordination Committee.
The network of 357 farmers is organized into 40 groups located at 4 local areas. An inter-group is formed in each area to support and monitor production quality. Currently there are 4 Inter-groups belonging to PGS Vietnam: Thanh Xuan (Ha Noi); Luong Son and Tan Lac (Hoa Binh) and Trac Van (Ha Nam). PGS Products are sold in 45 shops of 8 traders who have been registered as PGS members as well.
With assistance of PGS Viet Nam, there are some new PGS formed in other provinces such as PGS Tan Lac (Hoa Binh), PGS Ben Tre (Ben Tre), PGS Hoi An (Quang Nam)
