KHonsoulida and Anuthikone Sipaseuth, Ban AiAoun owner

KHonsoulida and Anuthikone Sipaseuth, two young siblings’ entrepreneurs, started BanAiAoun, and urban farm located nearby Luang Prabang center, in August 2017. An are on the house roof is dedicated to hydroponics and bed vegetables are arranged on the courtyard.

Anuthikone and his sister do not have a background in agriculture and did not receive any specific training. Yet, they were able to find much useful information on internet and could build a self-made hydroponics system. Anuthikone also and installed a self-made water purifier system.

Anuthikone grows two varieties of salad using hydroponics. The organic seeds come from Thailand. Presntly, Khonsoulida and Anuthikone have full time jobs and can dedicate only some of their time to the farm activities. They usually spend two hours every morning at the farm and two to three hours every evening.

Expansion: Khonsoulida and Anuthikone would like to expand the range of products offered to their customer and are already experimenting vegetables such as sweet chards or radish.

Recreational garden: they also would like to start a small sunflower garden on a piece of land they own. The project would be to create a recreational garden where they could grow sunflower and experiment other vegetables. It would also be a place where people can have lunch, relax and learn about sustainable farming.
