Context and Purpose of the job

Launched in March 2015, DEMETER (Droits et Egalité pour une Meilleure Economie de la Terre) is a six-year research for development project taking a right to food and gender equality perspective to examining changes in food security in the wake of land commercialization in two focus countries, Cambodia and Ghana. Within the framework of this new research project, Louvain Cooperation is looking for team leaders and enumerators. Each enumerator is responsible for collecting data by doing quantitative and/or qualitative interviews with the target groups in the assigned provinces, districts and villages in order to collect information related to Food Security and Gender. They will be assigned to do their tasks according to the size of the assigned survey sample, the location of sample and the methods used to collect it. They will work under the direct supervision of a team leader and s/he will report directly to his or her team leader. Team leader will manage their team (enumerators) to ensure effective and efficient research implementation. A research assistant will supervise all team leaders. 

Position: Team Leader (2 Positions)

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective and efficient research implementation of team members
  • Ensure the good quality of the data obtained by the team members
  • Organize daily meeting with the team members to help them deal with the problem existing at the field
  • Keep all information from interviews confidential
  • Identify and report any problems while obtaining data
  • Schedule interview appointments
  • If needed, conduct the survey
Skills and knowledge required
  • Associated degree in Social Science, Community Development, Rural Development, and other relevant degree
  • Previous experience managing the team in the field
  • Previous experiences conducting field data collection for a research or study
  • Knowledge of mobile field data collection tools (ODK)
  • Good computer skills (MS Office applications)
Personal Qualities
  • Dynamic, with ability to work independently once instructions have been provided
  • Committed and flexible approach to work
  • Willing to travel to the provinces in rural areas
  • Good interpersonal attitude
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and should speak respectfully to people
  • Ability to use electronic media to complete interview and enter data
  • Ability to accurately follow survey procedure

Position: Enumerators (8 Positions)

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule interview appointments
  • Get in touch with individuals to be interviewed at their house
  • Gather, record and encode information collected from each interview
  • Keep all information from interviews confidential
  • Identify and report any problems while obtaining data
  • Review data gathered from each interview to check if it is completed and accurate
  • Submit completed tasks to the assigned team leader and discuss daily new tasks with him
Skills and knowledge required
  • Associated degree in Social Science, Development studies, Community Development, Rural Development, and other relevant degree.
  • Previous experiences conducting field data collection for a research or study
  • Knowledge of mobile field data collection tools (ODK) would be an asset
  • Good computer skills (MS Office applications).

Period and duration: around 2 months of work distributed over from mid July 2019 to early September 2019
