The Research Centre for Gender, Family, and Environment in Development (CGFED) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in May 1993 in Vietnam. It focuses on social science research, emphasizing issues related to gender, family, and environmental development.
Objectives:

Promote Gender Equality and Justice: Utilizing human rights frameworks, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), CGFED aims to foster diverse and free values in gender-related activities.

Empower Women Economically: Enhancing women’s economic opportunities through vocational training and entrepreneurship education, particularly in regions like Lào Cai and Hòa Bình.

Advocate for Environmental Sustainability: Promoting ecological agriculture and raising awareness about the adverse effects of chemical use in farming to protect community health and biodiversity.

Action Research: Conducting participatory and qualitative research to identify and address gender disparities and environmental issues.

Capacity Building and Training: Organizing workshops and training sessions for local partners, including youth union members and women’s association staff, to enhance gender analysis skills and implement comprehensive sexual education programs.

Policy Advocacy: Engaging in policy dialogues and campaigns to influence and promote gender-sensitive policies and sustainable development practices.

Community Support Projects: Implementing initiatives like the “Green Market” event to encourage the adoption of chemical-free farming practices and support local communities in transitioning to sustainable agriculture.

Communication and Awareness Campaigns: Collaborating with networks such as the Pesticide Action Network Asia and the Pacific (PANAP) to launch campaigns like “Protect Our Children” to safeguard children from harmful pesticides and promote ecological farming.
