How are these numbers calculated?
An organization is counted only once in ALiSEA’s total membership count, even if it has activities in multiple countries. However, the count per country includes all organizations working in that country. Therefore, an organization can be counted in one, several, or all countries members.
You can find an Excel document summarizing all the figures, along with the Membership Report and Members Graph Presentation HERE.
Members are essential for the successful functioning and intended impact of the ALISEA Network. From our inception, we have strived to involve members in key decision-making processes regarding internal structure, governance, long-term sustainability, and action plans. We conducted multiple consultations with members since its foundation to reflect their dedication to nurturing and actively participating in the network.
Membership in the ALiSEA Network involves both gaining access to services and having responsibilities to contribute towards the network’s ultimate goal of sharing and improving agroecological knowledge and practice. We encouraged members to have a more proactive and responsive role within the network, rather than merely being observers. However, we understand that members may have varying levels of engagement due to differences in knowledge, time availability, and other factors.
ALiSEA members actively engage in:
- Sharing knowledge and experiences within the network;
- Strengthening their capacities through training, field visits, and workshops;
- Creating and accessing agroecology learning materials, including case studies, success stories, and videos;
- Collaborating on funding, event organization, training, exchange visits, and webinars;
- Driving policy dialogue and advocacy through consultations, briefings, studies, and evidence-building;
- Leading awareness and communication campaigns.
- Applying for small grants to support their agroecology initiatives (exclusively available for registered organizations).
- Shaping ALiSEA’s direction by participating in the national general assembly, contributing to action plans, management, and implementation of activities.
