Communication and awareness raising
The ALiSEA network focused on improving member engagement, promoting agroecological practices, and increasing its visibility among farmers, consumers, and policymakers. The main communication objectives are as follows:
1. Promote members’ work and results: ALiSEA showcased members’ projects, and success stories through its website and social media, through joining external conferences, amplifying their visibility within and beyond the network.
2. Scale up adoption of agroecological practices: By sharing demonstration videos, technical leaflets, practices brief and farmer testimonials, ALiSEA encouraged development practioners and farmers organizations to adopt agroecological practices that improve productivity and sustainability.
3. Raise awareness of the general audience about the impacts of the network and agroecology: ALiSEA collaborated with local media outlets to share inspiring stories from farmers and practitioners, raising public awareness of the environmental, social, and economic benefits of agroecology. The ALiSEA developed a strategy and approach on how to engage with local and national journalists. ALiSEA has built connection with 65 local journalists among three countries. As mass media, journalists are key players in promoting agroecology to the general public and supporting citizens to change their consumption practices. Awareness field day for journalists have been organize to improve the content and quality of media related to food and agriculture issues. More than 40 journalists have been trained on agroecology related issues.
