“Promoting the floating rice-based agroecological farming systems for a healthy society and adaptation to climate change in the Lower Mekong Region and Myanmar”

Department of Geography, University of Yangon conducted “Promoting the floating rice-based agroecological farming systems for a healthy society and adaptation to climate change in the Lower Mekong Region and Myanmar” on 18th January, 2019 at Conference Room, University of Yangon, Myanmar.

This workshop purposed to share the knowledge between three countries (Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar) and to practice the sustainable floating rice-based systems in the Mekong region and Myanmar.

There were around (50) participants from government agencies from the Mekong region, academic institutions, private actors, NGOs, farmers and FAO representatives in Greater Mekong Sub-region (Cambodia and Vietnam) who attended a one-day seminar workshop presenting more than 20 research papers. The event was funded by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. Environment Fund 2016 and the seminar/workshop was mainly facilitated by Professor Jamie Pittock and Van Kien Nguyin, Fenner School of Environment & Society the Australian National University and Dr Nilar Aung.
