Golden Plain is a non-government, non-profit local Myanmar organisation that provides training in agriculture, livestock and environment to local communities, with the aim of improving livelihoods and food security.
Golden Plain is staffed by a range of agricultural specialists who work primarily in the field and support staff based in Yangon. Project teams provide technical training and consultation to local communities, under the expert advice of former Myanmar University Professors and in conjunction with partner organizations.
Golden Plain began operating as the Golden Plain Agricultural Products Cooperative Society Limited in 1994.
In the more than 20 years since, Golden Plain has supported communities in almost every Myanmar States and Regions. Training in Crop Husbandry, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Integrated Soil Management (ISM) and the basics of Small Business operation has increased crop yields, led to a reduction in pest levels and pest control risks and an increase in natural pest control mechanisms and made soils more productive and profitable.
Training in land awareness and legislation and human rights has also improved communication channels between farmers and their government
representatives.
