CIFOR-ICRAF’s Focus in Vietnam

In Vietnam, CIFOR-ICRAF works on promoting sustainable land use, forest restoration, and climate-smart agroforestry practices in collaboration with government agencies, research institutions, and local communities. The key focus areas include:

  • Agroforestry and Sustainable Land Use – Enhancing farm productivity and climate resilience by integrating trees, crops, and livestock.
  • Forest Landscape Restoration – Restoring degraded lands and combating deforestation through nature-based solutions.
  • Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation – Researching and implementing strategies that help communities adapt to climate change while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Livelihood and Community Development – Supporting smallholder farmers, ethnic minorities, and marginalized communities to benefit from sustainable forestry and agroforestry initiatives.

Through its work in Vietnam, CIFOR-ICRAF contributes to national environmental sustainability goals while improving rural livelihoods, ensuring that scientific research leads to practical, on-the-ground solutions for both people and nature.
