Kasetsart University

Kasetsart University (KU), established on February 2, 1943, is Thailand’s third oldest university and the country’s first institution dedicated to agricultural sciences. Over the years, KU has expanded its academic disciplines to encompass life sciences, engineering, social sciences, and humanities. The university’s main campus is located in Bangkhen, Bangkok, with additional campuses in Kamphaeng Saen, Sriracha, and Chalermphrakiat Sakon Nakhon Province.

KU comprises multiple faculties, including Agriculture, Agro-Industry, Architecture, Business Administration, Economics, Education, Engineering, Environment, Fisheries, Forestry, Humanities, Medicine, Nursing, Science, Social Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, and Veterinary Technology. These faculties offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address contemporary challenges.

The university is committed to research and innovation, housing several specialized institutes such as the Kasetsart University Research and Development Institute (KURDI), the Institute of Food Research and Product Development (IFRPD), and the Kasetsart Agricultural and Agro-Industrial Product Improvement Institute (KAPI). These institutes focus on advancing knowledge in agriculture, food technology, and related fields, contributing significantly to Thailand’s development.

KU’s symbol is Phra Phirun, the god of rain, mounted on a naga, encircled by lotus petals. The university’s mascot is the Nontri tree, an evergreen planted by King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit in 1963, symbolizing growth and knowledge.

In recent years, KU has actively pursued international collaborations, signing memorandums of understanding with institutions such as Northwest A&F University and Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences in China. These partnerships aim to enhance academic exchange and research cooperation, reflecting KU’s commitment to global engagement.

As of 2019, KU had a student population of over 86,000, supported by approximately 3,800 academic staff members. The university continues to uphold its motto, “Knowledge of the Land,” striving to be a leading institution in education, research, and community service.
