Pesticide Action Network Asia and the Pacific (PAN-AP)

Pesticide Action Network Asia Pacific (PANAP) is a regional network affiliated with Pesticide Action Network International, established in 1992. We collaborate with civil society organizations, farmers, women, agricultural workers, pastoralists, indigenous peoples’ organizations, and academic institutions across the Asia Pacific region. Our mission is to advance food sovereignty, promote environmental health, and uphold social justice.

Campaigns and Advocacy

PANAP is dedicated to eliminating Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs), which pose significant threats to health and the environment. We conduct comprehensive research and documentation on the adverse impacts of pesticide use, land grabbing, and corporate malpractices. Our Community-based Pesticide Action Monitoring (CPAM) program empowers communities to document and address pesticide-related issues, fostering grassroots action and awareness.

Capacity Building and Training

We offer extensive capacity-building programs focusing on the detrimental effects of pesticides, the principles and practices of agroecology, and the promotion of women’s leadership in rural settings. Our training initiatives equip communities with the knowledge and tools to transition towards sustainable agricultural practices and strengthen women’s roles in advocating for their rights and environmental health.

Key Campaigns

  • Ban Highly Hazardous Pesticides: Advocating for the global phase-out of HHPs to protect human health and ecosystems.

  • Protect Our Children: Highlighting the vulnerability of children to pesticide exposure and promoting measures to safeguard their health.

  • Agroecology In Action: Promoting agroecology as a viable and socially just alternative to chemical-intensive agriculture, emphasizing biodiversity and ecological balance.

  • No Land, No Life: Supporting communities in resisting land and resource grabbing, and advocating for their land rights and food sovereignty.

  • Women Rise Up: Empowering rural women to assert their rights to health, a safe environment, and sustainable livelihoods.

International People’s Agroecology Multiversity (IPAM)

In collaboration with our partners, PANAP has established the International People’s Agroecology Multiversity (IPAM). IPAM serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, education, and advocacy, aiming to advance agroecological practices and principles globally. It brings together farmers, researchers, and activists to co-create solutions for sustainable and equitable food systems.
