The Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Son La province

The Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Son La province was established under Decision of the People’s Committee of Son La province. The Department is under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Son La province, responsible to the Provincial People’s Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for performing professional tasks related to cultivation and plant protection in the province. The Department has the function of advising and assisting the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in state management of the fields of cultivation, plant protection and food safety in agriculture. The main tasks include: guiding and inspecting the implementation of State policies and regulations on crop production; plant quarantine; forecasting and controlling pests and diseases; and ensuring food safety from crop products. The Department focuses on the development strategy of agroecology and organic agriculture, applying sustainable solutions to increase productivity, product quality and protect the environment. The Department also plays a role in consulting, providing technical support and transferring technology to farmers, in order to improve production efficiency. In addition, the Department also coordinates with higher-level state agencies in implementing agricultural support policies and programs.
