Mekong Youth Farm Network (Y-Farm)

The Mekong Youth Farm Network (Y-Farm) is a youth-led initiative that brings together young farmers, educators, and activists from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Developed by passionate youth in the Mekong region, Y-Farm serves as a platform for learning, sharing, and co-creating sustainable farming solutions.

Since its establishment in 2017, Y-Farm has engaged over 255 young people in the lower Mekong region through:

  • Training Courses & Workshops – Providing hands-on learning opportunities in agroecology, organic farming, and sustainable agriculture.
  • Farm Improvement & Development – Partnering with local farms to enhance sustainable practices and create learning spaces.
  • Youth Exchange Programs – Facilitating knowledge sharing and cultural exchange among young farmers and agricultural enthusiasts.
  • Y-Farm Camps – Hosting immersive farm-based camps, including the 2017 Y-Farm Camp in Laos, which brought together 27 participants for experiential learning.
Vision

Y-Farm envisions a future where young people across the Mekong region actively engage in sustainable agriculture, transforming farms into learning hubs that empower communities, preserve the environment, and promote food security.

Mission

Y-Farm is committed to inspiring and equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to drive positive change in agriculture. Through hands-on training, farm-based education, and youth exchanges, Y-Farm fosters a new generation of environmentally conscious and socially responsible farmers.

Our Network

Y-Farm collaborates with nine partner farms and youth groups across five lower Mekong countries, creating a strong regional network committed to sustainable agriculture, food security, and community development.
