As consumer trends increasingly emphasize food safety, health, and environmental sustainability, the Agroecology Learning Alliance in Southeast Asia (ALiSEA) organized the Consumer’s Day on Safe Agricultural Products in collaboration with its members under the topic “Strengthening consumers’ awareness of safe agricultural products through agroecology practices.” This initiative aimed to bridge the gap between producers and consumers while strengthening understanding of differences in safe products in agroecological practices.

The event attracted 149 registered participants (75 women), including farmers, producers, local authorities, students, journalists, stakeholders working in the agroecology sector, and especially consumers. As the event was open to the public with free admission at Waiko River Park, an estimated 300 members of the public visited the exhibition during the evening sessions.

The program featured:

1. A market exhibition showcasing and promoting safe agricultural products and other agroecological products;
2. Learning and knowledge-sharing forums to exchange experiences and disseminate knowledge and hands-on learning experiences regarding safe food standards and agroecological production processes.
3. Field visits to production sites demonstrating good agroecological practices.

The exhibition brought together 31 booths representing approximately 27 ALiSEA member communities from 15 provinces and municipalities across Cambodia. These communities apply agroecological farming techniques and cultivation practices that are environmentally friendly and safe for both consumers and producers. A wide variety of products were displayed, including fresh vegetables, natural agricultural inputs, processed products made by farming communities, products from natural resource conservation communities, and products made by Indigenous communities.
