Introduction

The Agroecology Learning Alliance in South-East Asia (ALISEA) is an open coalition of over 200 member organizations, including NGOs, farmers’ organizations, research institutes, the private sector, and government agencies. It focuses on sharing knowledge, increasing visibility for agroecology, and scaling up sustainable farming practices in the Mekong region. To reinforce strategic vision, governance, and communication among its national teams, ALISEA is organizing a regional exchange visit and coordination meeting. This event combines dynamic field visits with strategic dialogues and targeted training to enhance regional collaboration.

Event Summary

Objective:
  • To provide ALISEA board members and executive teams with hands-on experience in agroecological practices implemented by local communities and farmers’ organizations.
  • To enhance relationships among the ALISEA management teams.
  • To facilitate strategic discussions regarding ALISEA’s regional structure.
  • To build the capacity of national knowledge management coordinators on utilizing knowledge product templates and engaging members.
When: May 24th – 29th, 2026 (including travel days).

Where: Dong Thap Province, Southern Vietnam.

Who Joins: A total of 36 participants, including:

  • ALISEA Board Members: 15 people
  • ALISEA Executive Team: 9 people
  • ALISEA Coordination Team: 7 people
  • Partners: 4 people
  • Uni4Coop: 1 person

Expected Outcome:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of regional agroecology initiatives and exchange knowledge within the team.
  • Build good relationships between the ALISEA national teams and regional coordinators.
  • Provide clear strategic directions on policy engagement and future regional governance for discussion at the next regional general assembly.
  • Increase competency for national knowledge management coordinators and national secretariats in using standardized knowledge product templates and actively engaging members.
