ALiSEA Cambodia facilitated the participation of five young farmers from its members in Cambodia to learn and share experiences at “The First Young Farmers Camp and Agri-Lympics,” themed “Strengthening Cambodian Young Farmer Networks for Sustainable Rural Development.” This event provided a forum for over 100 participants, including young farmers, practitioners, students, professors, private companies, networks, NGOs, and CSOs from 16 provinces across Cambodia.
The event provided the opportunities for young farmers from different regions to meet, foster solidarity, build networks, and gain essential information and resources critical for their agricultural work. During the three-day event, young farmers from ALiSEA member organizations in regions such as Banteay Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Battambang, and Kratié participated. Indigenous people from Kratié, including the Pu Nong and Kroul communities, joined to showcase their products and share their agroforestry practices.
Mr. Yes Trea, a Pu Nong indigenous farmer from Kratié, shared insights on Ou Kak agroforestry and community practices during a panel discussion. He, along with his team, brought materials and products from his community, including honey and cover-crop seeds, to display at the event.
