ALiSEA Cambodia National General Assembly 2025

ALiSEA Cambodia National General Assembly 2025

On October 30th, the Agroecology Learning Alliance in Southeast Asia (ALiSEA), together with its members, convened a National General Assembly under the theme Work Together Towards Agroecology Transitions.” The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders committed to advancing sustainable agricultural practices and strengthening collaboration across the network. The event gathered a total of 59 participants, including 15 women, representing 46 different institutions.

The National Assembly also welcomed six new members, including Help the Old Age and Most Vulnerable Organization (HOM), Mlup Prum Vihearthor Center (MPC), Phnom Srei Organization for Development (PSOD), Star Kampuchea (SK), Organization to Develop Our Villages (ODOV), and Planète Urgence (PU). Four members have withdrawn.

During the National General Assembly, ALiSEA highlighted its key achievements over the past year, providing members with a comprehensive overview of progress made in strengthening agroecological knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Led by the Knowledge Coordinator, several important initiatives and tools were presented. Members were introduced to the collective knowledge products available through the ALiSEA Knowledge Hub. The results of previously collected knowledge products were presented, alongside a call for members to contribute further materials using the shared templates. A live demonstration of the Knowledge Hub provided participants with a practical understanding of how to access, use, and contribute to this growing resource.

The Greenshoots Foundation, an ALiSEA small grantee in 2022, presented its experience working with young farmers and students, demonstrating how agroecology can be successfully integrated into high school programs. Their approach illustrated the value of engaging youth in agroecology and building practical knowledge through education.

Furthermore, the assembly provided an opportunity to disseminate knowledge developed by ALiSEA members. One notable contribution came from members working closely with DCA (DanChurchAid), who introduced their agroecology initiatives in Cambodia. They also presented the Agroecology Training Manual for crop planting, a practical tool designed to support farmers and practitioners in applying agroecological principles in the field.

The group discussion on focus areas:

  1. Communication and awareness-raising: The topic of safe agricultural products will be promoted through the digital campaign and consumers’ day in 2026.
  2. Capacity building on agroecology technical training: Two priority topics were identified for the capacity building in 2026 (training and online thematic workshop): agroecology value-added and soil health management.
  3. Capacity building on policy dialogue and advocacy.

There were the booths’ preparations to display products from ALiSEA, including fresh vegetables and other agricultural goods, reflecting the diversity and richness of agroecological practices within the network.
